Alexander Technique for Performers
"It has reinvigorated my playing. I feel freer to express myself as a musician and find a lot of my Alexander teacher's observations very useful in my own teaching. " ( STAT pupil survey 2006 )
The Alexander Technique helps performers to improve stamina, increase clarity of perception, free up spontaneity and manage stage fright. Improved self-awareness allows them to get rid of poor habits and develop a wider repertoire of skills, to deliver the best performance of which they are capable.
The Alexander Technique is taught at all the major music and drama colleges throughout the UK, and many in the USA and elsewhere.
"It has helped me to undo knots, unblock energy and deal with almost paralysing stage fright."
( William Hurt, actor )
"The Alexander Technique can be sustaining; it is something that if learned well, can be carried along with you for the rest of your life. It gives you confidence to be who you are when you are up in front of an audience. "
( Patrick Maddams, Managing Director, Royal Academy of Music )

"It is because the body is a machine that (RE)-education is possible. (RE)-education is the formation of (NEW AND CORRECT) habits, a (RE-INSTATING OF THE CORRECT) artificial organization upon the natural organization of the body; so that acts, which at first require conscious effort, eventually become unconscious and mechanical." F.M.Alexander (Man´s Supreme Inheritance, 1910)
